intermittent ETS light V70-XC70 1999

i have a 99v70 with 65k that is displaying an intermittent ETS light about once a week.light comes on maybe first trip of the day, maybe the second, but generally stays on for the day regardless of the number of trips. next day it usualy does not illuminate. repeats this about weekly. have not noticed any decrease in performance or mileage. Is this detectable in the codes? Is it common or rare? the archives have plenty of msgs but all seem to reflect a performance problem associated with the light.
Any ideas or guesses?
