Does an 97 850 GLT AT have a filter? 850 1997

There is no filter in the trans. Dropping the pan is not as easy as it sounds. The subframe has to be lowered to get the pan off. Rear drive volvos and S-80s have filters. You can get an in line filter if you want one, but they are aftermarket. The best way to service the trans is to flush via the cooler hose till clear fluid comes out. I believe you can find the procedure at volvospeed/bay13.
