Recirc S70

Found the problem, the plastic fitting on the end of the control arm, where it attaches to the recirc door, is broken. I was able to remove the whole control rod assembly by slipping it off the control motor shaft.

Question is, after I get the new part, how do I get to the recirc door fitting where the control rod attached to it, do I have to remove the panels below the glove box?

I'm assuming the piece broke when I pushed down on the door when changing the pollen filter. Since that happened, the lamps on the AC & Recirc buttons flash indicating a problem with the system. I also noticed that the motor that is supposed to turn the door mechanism doesn't move when I change from outside air to recirc air. Is there any relationship between the (me) breaking the door fitting and the motor no longer working and the lights flashing?

Thanks for the help!
