1999 v70 surge at idle V70-XC70

My 1999 v70 with 75,000mi surges at idle. RPM drops to about approx 500 then something kicks in to boost it back up to about 1000.(over and over .....) Hot or cold same story. Otherwise it runs great while driving. Any ideas on what to address 1st? I can't find a repair manual for this car (as I've read others say also). Any help will be appreciated muchly!!
