The sportiest would probabley be an 850 Turbo model. They have 50 series
tires, very stiff suspension, very little nose dive when braking and
plenty of power. You will see complaints of ride harshness and
rattles from owners of these cars (but thats the compromise).
This would not be my personal choice -- I'd prefer a V70 T5 since it
offers a smoother ride and is a bit more refined (the T5 is just what
Volvo called the former Turbo models) and, for me, is a better daily
driver. You really should drive both.
An 850 R model has lower profile tires, more power (for about 10 seconds)
then an 850 (same power as the 70 series which get a small boost in power),
stiffer suspension. It is a no compromise ride. But, I think they were
only avalable as sedans except for the V70 AWD Rs. See the thread right
above yours about AWD issues.
I think the 850 Rs came with suede insert seats but 850 Turbos could also be
custom ordered that way. I know there are a couple owners who post here that have them and do not have Rs. But, thats all I know about those seats.
I have small kids so the leather works for me (it wipes clean). You
could search on "suede AWD" (below to the right) to get more.
I don't know of any east coast dealerz -- I'm in California. Track
down "Yannis" who posts here often. He works for an east coast
Volvo dealer.
