Chopped Suspension (call me crazy...) 850 1993

I am planning on purchasing either the ipd or Euro Sport Tuning sport springs for my '93 and was wondering if anyone has heard or has installed either and has an opinion of which is preferable. How is the handling different/how much was the vehicle lowered/etc. Also, I was thinking that since I've already decided that I'm going to buy the new springs, I might as well screw with the OEM springs. I have heard that removing about 1.5-2 coils from each spring gives a similar feel/look to the sport springs. Has anyone done this? I figure if it works I just saved myself 200 bucks and if it doesn't, I'll just buy the springs I was planning on in the first place. Am I insane to think that I can make my own sport springs?
