A/C Evaporator

Does anyone have any knowledge of a recall on the a/c evaporators or components in the '98 and '99 V70s??? I've heard talk this is a common problem and am wondering if it could possibly still fall under warranty even though we passed that point long ago. We've gotten a quote of $850 from Allum's European and he said that's the sixth one that's come through his shop so I'm wondering if Volvo might pick up the tab-ha! Thanks.
