The steering wheel being off center is no big deal in itself and the tie-rod ends can be marked and both moved slightly in the same direction to center the wheel w/o doing an actual alignment.
On the other hand, if there's unusual tire wear and/or the steering pulls or drifts in either direction when not holding the wheel, then a 4 wheel alignment should be performed and with that, the steering wheel should be perfectly centered.
