Heated Mirror Fault S40-V40

UK spec 1999 V40 2.0T

The RH (drivers side) heated door mirror has stopped heating! The LH mirror works fine, as does the heated rear windscreen. The angle-adjustment motor works fine too. My Haynes manual wiring diagram shows that all three heating elements operate from the same feed at the heater relay so I'm inclined to suspect the mirror itself.

How easy is it to remove the mirror from its housing without breaking it? I guess that if I remove the glass I can use a multimeter to check the housing contacts for a 12V feed and good earth. Can I then do a simple continuity/resistance test on the mirror's heating element? Thanks.
