Success! Changed T-Belt on '98 S70 GLT

Just wanted to share a nice success story, always more fun than my occaisional desperate posts for help! I needed to change the timing belt on my 1998 S70 GLT, but had never done a t-belt on a dual cam engine. I have all of the volvo blue-white tech manuals for the car (boy, and those weren't cheap!!!), and I also had printed out the t-belt replacement page from volvospeed's website ( http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/timingbelt.htm ).

Impressions: The volvo tech manuals are a true wealth of knowledge, and of spec's, but I must say that they make lots of assumptions about your knowledge. For instance, in the timing belt procedure, after you have removed the cam covers, it just says "remove belt," no explanation of the process, no caveats about not bumping the cams, nada. I really appreciated volvospeed's site since it had lots of tips and little comments about things to watch out for. In the end, I used both the manual as well as the volvospeed page extensively, and everything came out great!

Now, I have never done a t-belt like this before, and it took me some considerable time, since I was doing and double checking EVERYTHING as much as possible, and it took almost 5.5 hours... Now, I think that I could probably cut that down to 2 hours tops since I know what the game plan is.

Anyways, just wanted to share!

Thanks,
Vos
