440 1.7i Engine same as R19? 400 1991

Yup. Engine is pretty much the same. Volvo made a few modifications, but as far as I know are most of these in the engine-management side (Don't think Renault uses the Fenix fuel injection) The carburetor versions are pretty much identical.

If you look carefully you'll see a Renault logo embossed on the engine block and on the cylinder head.

Renault Sport engine parts should work in most cases. I guess you might even be able to fit a 16V cylinder head if it's based on the same engine. You will need to 'transplant' most of the electronics and build a custom exhaust manifold though..
