I recently took my car (460GL automatic H reg)to have bushes on the front suspension replaced. Two days later after having traveled about 10 miles it broke down. On inspection it was found that the driveshaft oilseal on the passenger side was detached from the gearbox and there was no oil in the gearbox.
The garage are telling me that the gearbox and differential have seperate oil supplies and that the loose oil seal could not have led to the loss of all the gearbox oil only a small amount of oil from the diff. I do not believe this and suspect they are trying to get out of their responsibility to repair the gearbox. Can anyone confirm that the gearbox and diff unit share the same oil supply and that the loose driveshaft oil seal was the cause of the gearbox oil loss. Unless I can prove this they will not repair my car!
