Air Dam 850 1995

Just had the wife's 1995 855T in for a new CV boot today and the shop told me my air dam was missing. The said it is not critical that we get it replaced right away since one of it's main functions is to deliver air to the A/C system. Being that we are going into winter (midwest) we can wait until the spring. He quoted me $102.00 parts and $14.00 labor. What does the air dam actually do, how much should it cost, and how hard is it to fix ?

Thanks,

JF
