Hi Rich...
Im Dan. I had a H plate 440 GLEi, and like yours, the suspension was very roly-poly! It did stick to the road with a car full though! Ive got an M plate 440 now, and once again, it felt like the car was goin to roll right over. I`m no mechanical genius - like yourself, im a student-and ive gone for another 440 because they are cheap-ish to buy, are mostly fully loaded, quick and relativly cheap to insure. I`ve literally just had them fitted-a set of Avo sports springs which have dropped the car 40mm all round-i did consider the full Bilstein kit like yourself, but money was the problem, and as im saving for some decent alloys i went for the cheaper option-and do you know what-the handling is sweet. They alloys now are only standard 14`s, but she holds the road really well. The only thing i have noticed is virtually all the bumps and lumps in the road. It is a little lumpy on comparison, but you have to expect that-its not all bad though AND it does look sweet, even with shite alloys. So, if your legs need replacing anyway, then buy the whole kit, but if you want to save money, go for the springs. I got them from www.needforspeed.co.uk - if you click on your car make, it will show you a list of things you can get for it. Like i said, im no genius, but i know how hard it is being a student, so if you want to save money, go for the springs. Unless someone reccomends otherwise. Have fun, and ditch the sereo-typical Volvo image!
Dan
