Rear main oil seal 850 1996

Hello!!

Quick question - as per previous post, my rear main has started leaking (855 automatic n/a).

This is only 4 months after i replaced the evaporator!! (which incidently i thought was 'not easy' but time consuming, but not a nightmare by any means - i wrote it up and took photos if anyone's interested........took me 8 hours).

Anyway, how many hours do dealers give for this job? Ive been looking on Brickboard and found reference to 10 hours, but all the dealers i phone tell me 6 - 7. Im in UK, maybe LHD cars take longer than RHD??

Has anyone got personal experience of this job? I intend to do myself.

Also, how long can i 'leave' rear main dripping for? Assume will leak for ages, and just need to keep oil level topped up - these things arent likely to go 'pop' and drop all the engines oil over the floor while driving and seize up!!! It's just that would prefer to do after Christmas when have some time off work.

So there you have it..........

Kevin
