Acceleration Problem or Typical? V70-XC70 2001

I'm a first time volvo owner and have a question about the acceleration on my recently purchased 2001 v70 2.4t with 19k miles. When I press the accelerator, there is a slight hesitation. When I take off from a dead stop I press the down on the pedal and there is a 1 second pause, like there is a rubber band in the linkage! It's almost impossible to get smooth acceleration around corners, etc. Also, when cruising, if I press down for a second and release, NOTHING HAPPENS! Just wondered if this was normal for this model, or if there is a problem.

Also, I notice more wind noise from the windshield than I would expect to hear and wonder if this is typical or if I may have a bad seal.

Thanks!

John
