We have all heard the how-to on changing your tranny fluid but I did it for the first time. In all the postings there seemed to be a little detail missing so I thought I would give my first experience (2 days ago) to help those wary of taking on the task.
Additionally anyone have comments on the 'right' synthetic to use? $5.00 a quart for Mobil 1 would kick my ass so next to it was AAMCO's brand of synthetic, I read the back of the bottle of each and both were produced by Exxon. I went with the AAMCO at almost 1/2 the price. Bought 12 quarts.

Over to Lowe's for some clear tubing didn't know which size to get so I got 5' of 5/8" ID (3/4"OD) clear hose and a 6" piece of 3/4"ID (in case I needed a size adapter. I also picked up a 5 gallon bucket with a lid to seal it up tight.
I ran the engine for 10 minutes or so prior to starting the process as it requires you to start and stop the engine and I didn't want to get a 'lawnmower affect' like I had one other time. (TERROR!)
I pried off the clip (note the direction the clip is on the hose) of the top return to the cooler line. It broke which is why I bought another clip.
The 5/8" hose fits perfect on the return tran line and slides up snug but requires a nylon cable or wire tie to hold it secure and not fall off.
Start the engine and watch the nasty flow out into the bucket. You get about 2 quarts before the bubbles come. Shut it off, top it off and do it again until the good fluid comes out.
I cut it very close as after my last flush and clean fluid coming out then topping off I only had a few ounces of fluid left so I would recommend next time to have say 14 quarts handy.
Now after removing my clear hose I coiled it back up and used the 6" 3/4"ID hose to mate the ends together and seal in the residues for the next flush.
NOW after you replace the O-ring and the sealing ring on the return line fitting you need to get the metal clamp back on. The flared end of the clamp goes on the radiator/cooler side the other onto the line fitting. The clamp MUST go on the return line first with the flared end facing the cooler. Use a pair of reverse slip ring pliers or a regular pair of pliers but use them for spreading the clamp apart slightly and slip over the retaining ridge on the fitting. Be careful to not damage the sealing ring or o-ring. Now slip the flared end over the cooler fitting and walah!
Check to be sure your fluids are correct by the approved methods and be sure the fitting area is dry so you can detect any leaks.
I was thrilled with the change, I think Inga loves me a little more now.
