keys will not lock/unlock door S80 1999

I purchased a 1999 S80 with 73,000 miles and an extended warranty.(The car has had all of the warranty work done.)
I need help in understanding how to lock and unlock the driver's door with the key.I cannot get the door to lock or unlock when using any one of the three keys When I use the key and turn it to the right and left , there is not any action on the locking mechanism.(The remote works and the keys lock and unlock the trunk.)
Is there something special about using the key to lock/unlock the door? Or,is something broken?
