Bonehead move of the week? 850 1994

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and am hoping some of you can ease my worried mind.

I'm afeared of what might happen to my '94 855 (120K and running like a top) after I gave it an engine bath at the local DIY car wash. I gave it a quick spray with the wand, and while I didn't jam the nozzle underneath the plug cover panel, I didn't make an effort not to get any parts wet. I left the engine running at the time.

Well, as soon as I was done washing the rest of the car, the motor quit and wouldn't re-start. Cranked fine, but never caught. I figured the cap might have gotten some moisture in, so I read a magazine and waited for it to dry out (since I had no tools with me). After an hour-and-a-half of trying to start the damned thing every 15 minutes, it finally started again (running rough for 5 mins or so), but I'm concerned about what damage I may have done with the repeated starting. (I never cranked for more than 8-10 seconds, and waited about 15 minutes between attempts.)

I saw in a post from a month or so back that getting water into the plug sockets can corrode the plugs and cause misfires, as the poster also suggested that the Check Engine light would come on after a couple days. (It's been four days so far, and the light has remained dark.)

I plan to pull the plugs in the next day or two to check them out, and might order the tune-up kit (plugs/wires/rotor/cap) from IPD just to be on the safe side.

So am I just being paranoid, or is my engine really out to get me? (Not that I didn't give it good reason to.)

Thanks in advance.
