Keyless Entry Problem 850 1997

My keyless entry will only "lock" the doors reliably. It will unlock the doors maybe 1 in 20 attempts. When I press the unlock button, the locks always giggle like you're trying to lock them again, but they won't unlock. I've changed the remote battery, but that's about it. There's NO INFO in Haynes or Chilton on the system. My guess is that the unlock mechanism is out of tolerance or needs to be lubed?

Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm tired of scratching the paint around the keyhole. I have no practice using the key to get into the car!
