Thunk, thunk when stopping? 850 1995

I recently replaced my rotors. The pads were done 10K miles before the rotors.

When I come to a stop I feel the occasional pulse in the pedal and 90% of the time I hear a "thunk, thunk" and also feel it in the brake pedal just as the car stops. I have tried both hard and soft braking and the results are the same. I may even be feeling it in the steering wheel or I'm too conscious of it. Soon I'll be seeing it. Help please.

The ball joints are good. The brakes work well but the pedal is harder if I pump it once. The noise/feel persists. No squeals or grinding noises. CV boots are good.
