So, what DO you buy?

Keep the 760. I have an '86 745T and with 4 Blizzaks and (3) 80 lb sand tubes in back during snow storms (only) it does fine in our winters. The 960's basically the same car and even if it had a multi-link rear suspension, it'd be no advantage on snow or ice over your present car. FWDs also do better with 4 snows in snowy areas for better traction but as for being "reliable", that's an opinion that many here might not agree with if you read some of the threads here. I wouldn't advise any '98-'02 AWD Volvo due to many problems reported as well.
