Likes and dislikes 2001 V70

Re: Dislikes

>Handles like a big boat

Do you have the T5 and 17" wheels? Otherwise, that's why God gave us iPd and Tire Rack!

>Stereo controls suck

Don't they? I have a S40 service loaner at the moment (my car is in pieces all over my dealer's service department) and it took me FIFTEEN MINUTES in the parking lot of Home Depot yesterday to figure out how to turn on the radio (no owner's manual). Consumer Reports said the current crop of Volvo radio controls are "counter-intuitive" but this is silly!

>Steering to hard for low speed

Hadn't noticed (on V70 & XC service loaners).

>Transmission shifts to early

Manual transmission will solve this.

>High rpm power sucks

Again, T5 version will solve this.

>Quirky and sometimes strange features

A high-performance station wagon is by definition strange and quirky. That's why I bought it.

>Strange 5 cylinder sound

Really? I think it's kinda nice. "Screams like an enraged wookie" when you tromp on it.

>Throttle-by-wire sucks the big one

A Volvo tradition since 1999. Complaints on the BMW boards, too. Does anyone still use throttle cables?

>Too much brake dust

Typical Volvo. But they STOP quickly! Best idea: brake-dust colored wheels, like the Volans on the old 850R.
