Bevel not a big deal

The bevel gear is not that troublesome and it's not specific the R models. The AWD system is really no worse that any other mechanical system out there. There is always a weak link in these systems when. Treat the system nicely and it will be fine. I have a 99 V70R 112000km just had a couple of seals replaced in the bevel gear, cost $300 Canadian, I don’t think that’s so bad. The R has much greater handling that the T5, in part due to the AWD but mostly due to the sport suspension that is come with. The T5 will be faster off the line for sure because it’s about 400Lbs lighter. My 850 Turbo was faster and I missed that for about a month, now I love the R for all it’s extra goodies. 98 R 236hp, 99 R 247hp 00R 261hp (US & CAN) the 2000 also has dual exhaust and a 5 speed automatic trans.
