Heater blower motor died , and diagnostic lights blink 850

Hi guys, I have a problem . I live in Eastern Canada, and it is cold. My fan motor was squealing a bit on a long drive this weekend, and this morning when I got in the car, the fan is dead....on all speeds. The diagnostic lights on the ECC blink for about 20 seconds, then they stop blinking, but the blower motor doesn't come on. I checked the ECC fuse, and the fan fuse under the hood, and they are perfect.
Any idea what would cause this, I need to know fast as it is below freezing today. Brrrrr
Thanks in advance, and have a good day.
Ian
