I know from being on this board for a while that there are alot of unhappy Volvo owners, but like someone pointed out, I think you will find the same on VW, BMW or Audi boards. Generally people don't put posts up that say how wonderful their car is.
Well, I am hear to tell you how wonderful Volvos have been to me personally.
I bought my 1995 used from a Volvo dealer and although I probably paid too much for it, I don't have any regrets. Now it has 118,500 miles on it. I have had ZERO problems. Sure, I have replaced air filters, oil, and put on brake pads once. Plus I changed the cap, rotor and plugs once myself.
I drive this car all the time, short trips, long trips on extended dirt logging roads in Maine and yet I don't think twice about driving to NYC for work.
The car looks brand new, oka handling, awesome seats. It does so much so well.
My 1999 I bought new. It now has 90,000 miles on it.
Problems: 1 clutch sensor replaced under warranty ($40.00)
Changed oil filters, plug wires and plugs plus 3 light bulbs.
The car now has 90,000 miles on it. Pretty amazing if you ask me.
Like many people have noted, I intentionally kept my volvos simple. In my 99 I ordered manual seats, manual climate control and of course a stick.
My brothers 93 850 has been as problem free.
Good luck to all, and hopefully Ford won't totally screw them up.
Nate
