Nooooo! Don't do it!

You'll melt connectors and yellow the reflectors. Don't do it. Halogen lights are a heat source that produces light as a waste product. A 100% increase in wattage will almost double the heat, yet give you maybe 10% more light. (When I did this a couple years ago on my 940, I couldn't even see the difference.)

The way to get more light is to get more efficient lenses (E-codes) and high-luminance halogens like Philips Premium, Philips BlueVision, Hella LightPower, and Sylvania SilverStar. These will all give you about 30% more light from stock 55W. (It's done with more efficient materials and atmosphere inside the bulb.)
