You do not need to get in accident to damage the motor mount..
all 850 volvo have engine mount problem I just replace mine last year..
and many owner also have a same problem... poor design...
on the V40 if you stand in front of the motor.. and your motor is mounting side way so stand on the passenger side and look strait down you can see a big round rubber bushing hold the motor... not much to move around.. so look carefully and see if that is some thing you want to get into..
on the 850 we do have more room but it still a bitch to press in the new bushing..
but I done it.. it not impossible.. just take patient and time but it fun...
