Alpine CD Changer S70

I have an alpine(chm-s601) 6 disc cd changer. i used this same changer in my 95 850. i recently(1 week ago) purchased a 99 s70. i installed the changer the same way as in the 850. the factoy radio has a socket labeled CD, when i pess the CHGR button on the radio it gives me EEEE. why isn't the changer registering. the changer was working when i removed it from the 850. has anyone experienced this problem?
