Fans runs after engine shutdown V70-XC70 1998

I suspect you have a thermostat and/or engine coolant temp sensor problem. You say the heat is not "as blistering as it used to be". This is a symptom of a stuck open thermostat. Symptom of faulty temp sensor is cooling fan running for several minutes. With cooler ambient temps, the fan does not normally run very often or for very long. The ECM could interperet the cooler running engine as a faulty temp sensor and run the fan as a failsafe measure. Since replacment of the temp sensor requires removal of thermostat, I would be inclined to replace both at the same time. I can say from past experience that thermostats usually fail after 60,000 + miles. At minimum I would recomend a new thermostat and see how it goes.
