Test drive XC90

Father in law called me the other day asking the MDX vs. XC90 question as he is in the market to replace his 960 wagon and T&C and just go to one vehicle. To me it was a simple answer, unfortunately. As much as I love my Volvo, recommending a first year model to a relative is dicey. Volvo has gotten a reputation for using first year model purchasers as unpaid test drivers. I recommended the MDX or Pilot. I hope I am wrong about the XC90. If it was reversed and the MDX was the new model and the XC90 had been out for a few years it would have been a tougher call.
