Hey, where are the Lexae in that list? Interesting that Saab 9-3 (my next car?) gets the same injury rating in this class even tough they're probably driven more aggressively. I didn't say Volvos were shabby, only that others are doing well in the safety scores, too. And, of course, there are other lists.
You don't think the Porsche 5cyl has a half million miles in it? I like it better than my 'red' engines - smoother, no funny knocks and slaps. And my tech just did a T-belt on an 850 with 375K miles on the odometer...the car's 5th T-belt. At a nearby college campus, one of these engines is over 400K in an older Audi 100, which had the engine before Volvo did.
I won't be doing any XC's either. I'll probably look for something on the sporty side. Since I'll be buying my next 2-3 year old car in 2-3 years, I'm looking around at what's made today. In my curent mood, I'm liking 9-3 (really liking this one), G35, 350Z, S2000, maybe even RSX....or a C70 if I can get a coupe instead of a ragtop, though it probably lacks the fun factor. I'd buy a Mustang if I could get the ergonomics.
At this stage of my life, I'm not thinking a whit about safety. I'd rather fly off a curve on the Blue Ridge Parkway than die of cancer or alzheimer's.
