Clutch judder and engine mounts. V70-XC70 1998

I'm getting a lot of clutch judder, I took the car to the garage and the mechanic could grip the top of the engine and rock it side to side by about 2". Is this normal? I've recently fitted a polyurethane top engine mount so that should be OK but I'm now concerned that the other mountings may be shot.
Obviously I hope it's not the clutch itself because of the cost involved, the car has only done 90000 motorway miles so it "should" be serviceable.
Any help gratefully accepted.
