Coolant Leak - Heater Core V70-XC70 1998

I have a puddle of coolant on the driver's side floor. I pulled the carpet and plastic cover down and see the leak at the clamp where the aluminum coolant pipes enter the blower housing (and attach to the core) It leaks most when the car is cold and with no pressure leading me to suspect the 0-rings/clamp assembly rather than the core (i.e. the rings contract during the cold and cause the leak) Of course the dealer says I need a new core for $315 + 2 hours of labor for a total of about $450. I'm not convinced I need a new core. Any ideas or similar experiences/fixes out there?
