Oil smell 850 1995

Bought a 1995 855 GLE 10 valve with 298 000 km since past experiences mileage means nothing. Apart from the standard brake pads and liquid flushing I noticed the seal near the timing belt is leaking. I bought both belts and all the seals including a water pump regardless whether needed or not. Whats a 150 bucks now when everything is opened. I also found out after idling for over 10 minutes a burning oil smell inside the car but I haven t noticed or seen blue smoke yet when pushing the car or simply driving around. The engine purrs and no apparent symptoms other than indicated. Is it possible that the oil smell is oil falling on the timing belt or exhaust. I guess i ll find out tomorrow when the work will be completed. I m checking if the engine is consuming but still to early to get a full month of info. Is it complicated to slap a 20 valve in?
