Trunk no latch 850

My trunk latch mechanism does not work. One day I hit a bump, and I hear this loud Whump! Is there any way to see if a spring is busted? I noticed that the latch mechanism is covered by metal that is riveted shut. I am thinking of just going to a junkyard and removing the whole assembly from a old 850 to replace my bum latch. Any suggestions?
