..."My experience has been the good ones don't stick around too long...sad but true."

That is not (nor could it be)the truth. At the Volvo dealer I use, in 12 years of me going there for service(they are that only place I let touch my volvo)I have see 2 new faces....they replaced two guys who retired. The service manager is about 45, and has worked there since high school....he started washing new cars on the lot when he was a kid.
I will always take my car to the dealer for service.......they are the ONLY ones who have access to the VADIS cart(they are not the only dealer in my area....NYC Metro....there are a ton of them around here), and as I plan on driving new/newer Volvos for a long long time(the biggest reason for this is the quality of service I get at this dealership)they are the only ones who will be able to access all servicable areas of my cars.
This dealer has been there since the early 60's and is one of the first Volvo dealers in NJ. The service staff and I have become friends over the years, and they NEVER failed to get me out the same morning, or give me some "good will" when needed, never failed to find and fix a problem the first time at it.....they trust me and I trust them......they are not cheep, but they are not high priced either....they charge a fair hourly rate. I always have one of the same three techs work on my car....even just for a LOF(I have a LOF done every 3K with Mobil 1), they know my car, and the way I like to see things done.....and I know them, and that they will do everything under the sun to "do the right thing".
OH.....and just so you know....I am no tourist when it comes to a service department......I was service manager at two very large motorcycle dealerships in the NYC area for years.
You need to shop around for a quality service department just like you would shop for any thing else. I never understand why people 90% of the time take their car to the dealer where they bought it.....insted of taking it to the dealer who has the best service dept in their area.

Just remember these dealerships are ALL indi owned.....not one is owned by Volvo NA, so you can not put the weight VolvoNA for what some dealer who only has a service dept because VolvoNA says they HAVE to does to your car.

I think thats enough for now......sorry I went on so long, but I never like a cry baby
