How's your sense of humor?

Your gas station is on top of a really big hill?

Seriously, this must be sort of a "psychoaccellerant" phenomenon. Mine car is always faster after I wash it.

Could be the sound of the engine working harder to pull a full tank of fuel under full throttle makes it feel faster?

Or, next time you're about empty. Get about a mile away from the gas station and time yourself getting there from a stop. Fill up and time yourself back to the starting point. Just don't run over a pump when you pull in at 120mph+.
