turn signal V70-XC70

Does anyone know the cause and/or solution to this problem:
When the turn signal is activated the signal lights stay on continuously. (They don't blink intermittently as they should)
The car is a 98 V70 and the funny thing is this only happens randomly. Other times it is fine. Help Me.........
