Front passenger door won't unlock! V70-XC70 1998

Hi,

The problem just started yesterday. None of the eletrical methods of unlocking doors - keyless entry remote, operating key on the driver door, or the power door lock switch on driver or front passenger door - would work on unlocking the front passenger door, although I can hear the mechansm making noises in the door when one of these methods is used. The only way I can unlock it is to manually pull up the knob. All other door locks work fine.

All the eletrical methods work fine on the front passenger door when locking.

Has anyone run into this problem before? How was it fixed? If fixed by the dealer, how much were labor and part costs?

I am reasonably handy (I do my own oil, filter, coolant and brake fluid changes); is this something I can attempt on my own?
