Damper motor question 97 850R 850 1997

Now that it is winter, I've noticed that there is no air being directed
to the floor in the heat setting. I did have two of these motors replaced
but I don't know what ones. There are no blinking lights on the ECU, but I
cannot get the floor setting to work. I do hear the motor turning but it
it always redirected to the windshield. After getting the Hayes manual I noticed there are 5 motors controlling air flow, one in particular controlling the defrost/heat setting. I also noticed that there is a somewhat complex set of instructions for getting the ECU to auto adjust the motors. I was wondering if it is possible that this was not done when the motor was replaced and that is why it is not working? If I attempt to reprogram the ECU can I do anything to damage it? Also any other suggestions on debugging/repairing the problem would be appreciated

Craig
