S70 Question S70

I have owned my 1999 S70 for a year now and am very happy with it. I also have experienced some of the "volvo" problems with the car. But coming from a 1987 740 to a S70 was a big change. Does any one know what the decision was to stop making the S70 Sedan? Was it to finally do away with the 740? I have a hard time understanding why they only made this car for three years!
