850 Starting delay 850 1996

I have a strange problem---my wife's 850's starter does not engage immediately. Turn the key, waits probably 1 second before the starter engages. Then it starts up fine. It seems to always start, but is sort of un-nerving.

I also have the microswitch problem where I have to hit the button to get out of Park. I read somewhere that may be a contributing factor.

From this site, I also learned how to add 134 coolant for my AC, how to fix the winshield wiper check valve and how to fix the seat warmers. These cars are sort of like the young (and thinner) Mary Joe Sugarbaker of Designing Womwn, ...high maintenance but occassionally worthy of the hassles you live with day in and day out.

Any suggestions?
