ATF flush by machine 850

I recently had my ATF changed and my mechanic used one of those machines that
flush the old out and then replaces it with new fluid.
My question is, does this process also get the fluid that lays in the bottom of the pan? I have read some posts here that when you do the process yourself at home per Bay13, some folks say they drain the pan first via the plug and then proceed to the bay 13 method. Any comments.

Thanks & happy New Year!
