tires on the 2003 model? V70-XC70 2001

My 2001 XC came with Scorpion ST tires with a fairly aggressive tread. Great for snow but a little noisy on the highway. I have switched to a A/S Touring tire , the Goodyear Regatta 2. Much nicer for highway cruising and still plenty of grip for the winters here in Syracuse, NY. My sister in Hartford CT, just got a 2003 XC and the tires are still a Scorpion but instead of the STs, they are a STR model. Much less aggressive tread then the STs. When did Volvo make this change?
