Whistling when cold 850

My '96 does the same thing and it doesn't have an airpump. It only does it under a light load and from about 1200 to 2000 rpm. It stops after 2 or 3 minutes max. It is a very low whistle. Not the belt. It only does it when is real cold. I figured it had to do with air intake system. Most car have a valvedamper to pull warmer air off the engine to aid cold start up and running. Haven't taken the time to investigate yet.
