V 70 Reliabilty V70-XC70

FWD model overall reliability should be pretty good.

On the V70 series the AWD is viscous coupled until the model
year 2003. Use the search field (below, to the right) and
search on "viscous coupling" to find posts on the issues.
A search on "awd tsb" also turns up a lot. Remember, this is
the internet so you will mostly see complaints (few post when
all is well).

You also have to make sure the tire size is kept matched. This
means a flat on a tire half worn probably means you buy 4 new
tires. The vehicle should also only be driven a short distance on
the space saver spare and I think flat-bed towing must be used.
With a used purchase, you would have to make sure the current
owner observed these issues and rotated tires frequently, etc.
