Replacing a computer as a guess would be very expensive. I would be surprised if your Volvo dealer would provide any discount on repairing anything on your 1996 vehicle. Does your mechanic own a diagnostic tool for reading the 1996 model computers? I think you have OBD-II in that car. Is that CE light still on? Did it come on only after you accidentally hit 'Winter mode' on the transmission switch?
