Brakes Question for a 98 S70 S70

I just installed new brake pads and rotors on the front of my wife’s 98 S70. I bought the pads and rotors from my local dealership just to make sure I wouldn't encounter any problems, but it seems as if I have anyway. The brake pedal is a lot harder now. If I have to make a relatively quick stop it requires a lot more effort than it use to. Has anyone experienced this before, does anyone know why?
