850, S70 or ?? 850 1997

I gleaned the following during the last few years on this board:
1. RWD are cheaper to maintain then FWD (less to go wrong)
2. 1997 850's were the best/latest refinement of the 850 line.
3. 1998 s70s had some problems but by now a used one should have had them fixed. Need to make sure. However some would say go for 1999 or 2000 instead of 1998.
4. They're both actually the same car. 1997 and earlier may have transmission and AC (evaporator) problems.
5. If I were buying another FWD, I would buy a 1999 V70 if I had the $$$, or
a 1997 850 (or even 1996) if had less $$.
6. Both should get much better mileage than 240's

I have a 1992 240 (owned 2 years) and 1997 850 GLT (owned 3.5 years).
